Nissan introduces all electric Interstar large van

Nissan has introduced an all new version of its popular large van, the Interstar. And for the first time the light commercial vehicle can be ordered in pure electric mode.

Compared to the outgoing Interstar this new model is bigger all over - with load length increased by 100mm and a 40mm wider side door. Payload for the electric version is now up to an impressive 1.6 tonnes.

Power is provided by a large 87kWh battery pack or a short range 40kWh battery version. The larger pack has a WLTP rating of 286 miles and the smaller pack 124 miles. When we advise businesses on vehicle range it is always best to consider the practical use of the vehicle, if the vehicle is only being used in an urban environment then the smaller - and therefore cheaper - 40kWh is sufficient for the job. For regional jobs the larger 87kWh should be good for around 200 real world miles between charging.

Nissan is promising a broad choice of body styles will be available to choose from including Dropside, Box and Tipper. As well as the 1.6 tonne payload capacity the electric van can pull up to 2500kg.

Shipping with a glut of safety equipment as standard one of the key highlights is a significant improvement to emergency braking with reaction times halved compared to the outgoing model.

The all new Nissan Interstar-e joins the Townstar small van in the Japanese manufacturer's all electric LCV line-up.
