Under the Mayor’s Air Quality Fund, the London Borough of Hillingdon and its partners (the London Borough of Hounslow, Heathrow Airport and GSK) are offering local businesses the opportunity to trial electric vans in the workplace at no cost, other than providing their own insurance.
The trial will give participants the opportunity to:
- Test an electric van over a two- to four-week period.
- Gain first-hand experience of utilising an electric vehicle (EV) for your day-to-day business use.
- Understand whether using an electric van meets your usage requirements and whether it could be beneficial for your company.
The trial has been made possible through funding from the London Mayor’s Air Quality Fund (MAQF) and is open to all businesses with a company vehicle in the Borough of Hillingdon and surrounding area.
It is being coordinated by Ricardo Energy & Environment, with vehicles provided by Fleetdrive Electric.
The London Borough of Hillingdon is offering local businesses the opportunity to trial electric vans to promote awareness of their benefits and to give interested companies first-hand experience of using an electric van for their day-to-day business use.
The trial is linked to the MAQF’s objectives by demonstrating how local businesses can utilise and purchase Ultra Low Emission Vehicles (ULEVs) to contribute toward reducing local air pollution and carbon dioxide emissions.
Ellie Vujasevic, Rental & Remarketing Manager at Fleetdrive Electric says; “Our EV Flexi-lease service has helped introduce a number of organisations to the benefits of ultra-low carbon transport and we are really excited that it is making this trial project possible. Many van operators will not have considered switching to an electric van before, perhaps put off by concerns of the vehicle’s cost or range capabilities, but when they get to actually use one they discover how practical and reliable they are, as well as being great to drive.
“We are pleased to be supporting this project and would encourage any van operators in the West London and Heathrow area to take up this great opportunity.”
The trial will run between September 2016 and December 2016. Businesses will be supplied with the vehicle for 2-4 weeks, although it may be possible for longer trials to be arranged.
