Nissan Townstar Electric Van Leasing

Nissan's replacement for the pioneering e-NV200, the Townstar Electric brings the latest generation of electric vehicle technology to a practical small van. Available in two body lengths, L1 and L2, it gives businesses the choice of a compact van that's easy to manoeuvre in urban environments or a longer version with additional load space.

The Townstar Electric combines zero tailpipe emissions with the practicality businesses need from a small van. It has also been recognised as an Electric Van of the Year, underlining its position as one of the leading electric vans in its class.

Nissan Townstar electric lease

Being the successor to the hugely successful e-NV200 was never going to be an easy task, but Nissan has built on that model's foundations with a more modern electric van designed around the needs of today's businesses.

The Townstar Electric brings a good level of technology and driver assistance to the small van market. Depending on specification, features include ProPILOT Assist, Intelligent Around View Monitor, adaptive cruise control, Blind Spot Warning, Intelligent Emergency Braking and parking assistance.

Inside, the Townstar is designed to make working life easier, with smartphone connectivity, USB charging and plenty of practical storage throughout the cabin. It's a comfortable and well-equipped electric van for everything from urban deliveries and trades to everyday business use.

With the choice of two body lengths, businesses can also choose the Townstar that best matches their requirements without moving up to a larger van.

Nissan Townstar battery & charging

The Townstar Electric uses a 45kWh battery and a 122hp electric motor, with power sent to the front wheels. Nissan quotes a WLTP combined range of up to 183 miles, although real-world range will vary depending on factors such as speed, temperature, payload, driving style and use of heating or air conditioning.

For most businesses, the Townstar's range makes it particularly well suited to urban and regional work, where its smooth and quiet electric powertrain is at its best.

Charging is also designed to fit around a working day. The current Townstar Electric supports 22kW AC charging and up to 80kW DC rapid charging, depending on specification.

As with any electric van, we recommend charging primarily when the vehicle is parked for longer periods, such as overnight at home or at the workplace, and using the public rapid-charging network when longer journeys require a top-up.

Nissan Townstar L1 / SWB

The Townstar L1 is the shorter-wheelbase version and is the ideal choice for businesses that prioritise compact dimensions and easy manoeuvrability. With its shorter body, the L1 is particularly well suited to city driving, local deliveries and businesses that regularly need to park or navigate narrow streets.

Despite its compact size, the L1 provides a useful 3.3m³ of load space, with a load length of around 1,806mm. This gives plenty of room for tools, equipment and everyday deliveries while retaining the easy-to-drive characteristics of a small van.

The L1 is also available across the current electric Townstar range, including Acenta and Tekna specifications.

Nissan Townstar L1 / SWB vital

Specification Townstar L1 Electric
Load length 1,806mm
Maximum load volume 3.3m³
Vehicle length 4,486mm
Maximum width 1,570mm
Functional height 1,215mm
Maximum payload Up to 612kg

Specifications can vary according to model and equipment.

Nissan Townstar L2 / LWB

If you need more carrying capacity, the Townstar L2 is the longer-wheelbase option. The additional body length gives you more room for larger loads while retaining the benefits of a relatively compact electric van.

The L2 makes particular sense for tradespeople, delivery businesses and fleets where the extra load space will be regularly used. It offers a useful middle ground between a small van and a larger medium-sized electric van, without becoming unnecessarily bulky for urban work.

The Townstar L2 is also available with the current 45kWh electric powertrain and across Acenta and Tekna specifications.

Nissan Townstar L1 vs L2 - which should you choose?

The choice between the two versions largely comes down to load requirements and how the van will be used.

The L1/SWB is the better option if you spend a lot of time in towns and cities and value a shorter vehicle that's easy to manoeuvre and park. Its 3.3m³ load area is still substantial for a small electric van.

The L2/LWB is better suited to businesses that regularly carry larger or longer loads and want to maximise the available cargo space. The extra length gives you greater flexibility without moving into a larger van category.

Whichever version you choose, the Townstar Electric offers the same core benefits: quiet and smooth electric driving, zero tailpipe emissions and the potential for lower running costs compared with a conventional diesel van.

At DriveElectric, we offer Nissan Townstar electric van leasing deals across the latest L1 and L2 models, making it easy to find the right specification for your business.
