Segment-defying AION UT on sale from September
AION has confirmed order books for its second UK model, the AION UT, will open in September, with first customer deliveries following in October.
The electric supermini is aiming to redefine what drivers expect from a B-segment car. Despite sitting in the compact class, the UT offers the space, quality and features usually reserved for cars a size up, backed by a 268-mile standard range, the longest in its class, and rapid 30-80% charging in just 24 minutes.

A 204PS motor gives the UT genuine pace too, with 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds putting it among the quickest superminis on sale.
Styled at parent company GAC's design studio in Milan specifically with European buyers in mind, the UT has a distinctive face featuring owl-inspired headlights and a 2x2 "ice cube" indicator and daytime running light cluster. It comes in five colours, and the interior punches well above its class with heated front seats (thank you AION), a 14.6 inch central touchscreen and a 360 degree surround-view camera as standard.
An optional Premium Pack adds a panoramic glass roof, powered tailgate, ventilated driver's seat and wireless phone charging for those wanting even more.
Jon Wakefield, Managing Director of AION Auto UK, said the UT is "a small car that acts big on longer journeys," combining a nippy weekday drive with enough space and range for weekend family trips.
Beyond its European styling, the UT has also been engineered specifically for UK roads, with revised springs, dampers, bump-stops, calibration and anti-roll bar, building on work already carried out on the AION V.
Every AION UT comes with the brand's Great 8 Promise as standard: an eight-year warranty, eight years of servicing, eight years of roadside assistance and MOT cover until the car turns eight. The promise is VIN-locked, meaning it stays with the car even if it changes hands, so both current and future owners benefit.
With order books opening next month, this looks set to be one to watch for anyone after a compact EV that doesn't compromise on space, range or standard kit.
