Renault 4EVER Trophy Electric SUV

Rugged and ready, Renault has presented the contemporary, electrified version of their legendary Renault 4.

Renault has combined retro, SUV and electrification, and the result is the Renault 4EVER Trophy. The 4EVER Trophy is just a ‘show car’ at the moment, but Renault says that it “paves the way for a future all-electric B segment SUV”.

The inspiration behind the Renault 4EVER Trophy is the Renault 4, which went on sale 60 years ago in 1962, and continued for 30 years until 1992. A further 30 years on, in 2022, the Renault 4EVER Trophy aims to capture the styling and lightweight body of the Renault 4, and take its utility to the next level by giving it genuine off-road capability. The Renault 4 was also known for its comfortable ride quality, so we hope that is also a feature of the production version of the 4EVER Trophy.

Design touches from the Renault 4 are evident in the styling of the 4EVER Trophy, such as in the shape of the rear side windows. However the show car gains wheels which dwarf the tiny wheels on the original Renault 4, and the ground clearance has also been substantially increased. A spare wheel sits on the (carbon fibre) roof, and there are minimal front and rear overhangs.

The battery is located in the floor, with reinforced protection underneath it to guard against any off-roading impacts. There are body protectors around the entire lower exterior of the car and around the wheel arches.

You can change the tyre pressures from inside the car, depending on the terrain, thanks to compressors on each wheel.

Renault says to think of the production version of the Renault 4EVER Trophy like the Renault Captur, and the electric Renault 5 Prototype – also on display at the Renault stand during the Paris Motor Show – like the Renault Clio.

Production is already earmarked for Renault’s ElectriCity hub in northern France.
