This all-new EV is being launched at the same time as its ICE-powered siblings and compared to the outgoing X2 model, this new version is bigger in every key dimension. It's taller, wider and longer than the SUV it replaces.

The all electric version comes with a 64.8 kWh battery pack and that's a WLTP range of 279 miles - so real world we're looking at around 210-220 miles on a full charge. As standard there's a 11kW AC charging capability and up to 130kW DC for ultra-rapid charging.

Power comes from two electric motors, giving it some super fast acceleration. In sprint tests the iX2 can go from 0 to 62mph in just 5.6 seconds.

BMW iX2 review

The sporty, fastback version of the electric iX1 SUV

The iX2 differs from the majority of BMWs over recent years in the way its power is delivered to the road.

Rather than the rear-wheel drive experience of 3 Series models upwards, the iX2 is front-wheel drive, and although the iX2 xDrive30 is all-wheel drive, thanks to the equal 50/50 power and torque split front to rear, the handling is very neutral (and of course very secure).
