DS 3 E-TENSE gets shorter name, longer range

The New DS 3 has been unveiled at Paris Fashion Week as the successor to the DS 3 Crossback, featuring stunning new design and technology.

The DS 3 Crossback has become the DS 3, and the all-electric DS 3 E-TENSE model has gained a slightly larger 54 kWh battery (with 51 kWh usable capacity) delivering a longer range of up to 249 miles (WLTP Combined) – 52 miles more than the original DS 3 Crossback E-TENSE.

The battery has improved energy density, with liquid circulation providing thermal control, and a heat pump enabling rapid charging, better range and increased lifespan. The DS 3 E-TENSE has a maximum charging rate of 100 kW, allowing a 10-80% rapid charge in 30 minutes.

There’s also a completely new electric motor with 115 kW (155hp) of power and 260 Nm of torque.

Minor styling changes to the DS 3’s front end result in improved aerodynamic performance, with new LED headlamps, or DS MATRIX LED VISION headlamps available as an option, which provide an automatic and adaptive main beam. Flush-fitting door handles also improve aerodynamic efficiency.

The E-TENSE model features new 18-inch wheels fitted with ‘tall and narrow’ Class A+ tyres, along with a 10mm reduction in ground clearance.

A new Diva Red paint colour features a three-layer treatment with a deep colour, a semi-transparent layer and a protective lacquer.

Inside, a new 10.3-inch high definition central screen is now standard, displaying 360 degree vision around the car, and there’s a new steering wheel. The electric front seats can be heated and they also offer a massage function.

A MyDS app shows the battery range and level of charge, as well as providing the ability to control battery charging.

Trim levels for the DS 3 E-TENSE are Performance Line (£37,200), Performance Line + (£39,200), Rivoli (£39,700) and new top of the range Opera (£42,700), and the DS 3 E-TENSE is now open for orders.
