Hyundai refreshes IONIQ 5
Hyundai has announced a refresh and shake-up of its IONIQ 5 electric car
South Korean brand Hyundai has announced a raft of updates to its IONIQ 5 electric car, including as the official snaps below show some updates to its exterior styling.
For want of a better description, the new IONIQ 5 has had a bit of botox, some of the more angular lines and corners have been smoothed out to give a more rounded and tapered appearance. Otherwise it still retains the main aesthetic of the original. Alloy wheel designs have also been updated and there's now a choice of 11 exterior colours to select from.
Inside the car, there's a new sliding centre console unit, updated seating design and materials, plus proper climate and heated seat buttons.
Built on the same E-GMP platform, all IONIQ 5 cars now come with heat pump and battery pre-conditioning as standard.

There's two battery packs available - standard range of 63kWh and a long range unit of 84kWh. This gives real world range of around 220-230 miles for the smaller unit and 300 miles for the larger unit. One of the main benefits of the IONIQ 5 remains the 800V architecture in use which allows the car to benefit from incredibly fast DC rapid charge speeds - up to 260 kW of power under optimal conditions.
There's a wide range of variants for drivers to choose from:
- Advance Standard Range 63 kWh 170 PS RWD
- Advance Long Range 84 kWh 228 PS RWD
- Premium Standard Range 63 kWh 170 PS RWD
