Hyundai reveals hottest IONIQ 5 concept
The hot hatch Hyundai IONIQ 5 N has been further beefed up for a Japanese car show and confirms future production
Hyundai has unveiled a new concept car based on the high-performance IONIQ 5 N EV. Known as NPX1, the show car has been manufactured by Hyundai's N Performance Parts division and made its show bow at the 2024 Tokyo Auto Salon.
Now you might think the current production IONIQ 5 N EV is enough hot hatch for anyone but that's not what Hyundai is thinking as it has confirmed that before the end of 2024 customers will be able to purchase N Performance Parts.
The show car features several customisations from the standard IONIQ 5 N including
- Side skirts
- Rear diffuser
- Rear wing spoiler
- Racing bucket seats
- Hybrid carbon wheels
N Performance Parts was started by Hyundai in 2019 to develop customisations and performance upgrades across its range of N range.
Hyundai IONIQ 5 N
The concept car is based on the production IONIQ 5 N which is now available in the UK. This very special EV features a host of upgrades over the standard model, perhaps most eye-catching is the sprint time of just 3.4 seconds to go from zero to 62 mph. There's 650PS of power available to the driver and a simulated 8-speed dual clutch transmission.
Add in the simulated vehicle noise (N Active Sound+) and all you're missing is the large petrol bill to quench your hot hatch thirst.
