Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV, complete with silver champagne goblets

What’s more exclusive than a Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV? A Maybach EQS SUV of course!

The standard base EQS SUV could never be considered a basic EV, it comes chock full of all the latest tech and plenty of luxury too but that hasn't stopped the German brand from dialling up the sophistication to 11 by dusting off the Maybach badge.

The exclusivity is perhaps best summed up by the option to specify that the car’s center console can include two folding tables, a cooling compartment, and silver-plated champagne goblets.

Rear passengers also have two 11.6-inch displays on the backrests of the front seats, to complement the standard MBUX Hyperscreen for front seat occupants. With the standard MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment, content can be shared on various displays. The standard equipment also includes the MBUX rear tablet, which can be used outside the vehicle. Like the front seats, the standard rear Executive seats are equipped with ventilation, massage function, and neck and shoulder heating.

As well as Ambient Lighting, which runs through the entire vehicle, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV contains Active Ambient Lighting with 253 individually controllable LEDs and 64 individually selectable colors including the Maybach-specific color schemes of Rose Gold White and Amethyst Glow.

There’s filtering technology to ensure high-quality air in the cabin, but in addition, a special fragrance has been created for the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV: ‘No. 12 MOOD Ebony’, curated from sandalwood and spices.

The standard Burmester 4D surround sound system features the Dolby Atmos immersive audio experience with 15 speakers. The Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV also has its own ‘Aerial Grace’ driving sound that has been specially created for its interior occupants, which is interactive and reacts to different parameters including accelerator pedal position, speed, and recuperation.

What may be less important than all of the luxury features for rear-seat passengers is the powertrain information for the car. In case anyone is interested, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 SUV has two electric motors and 4MATIC all-wheel drive as standard (although a new Disconnect Unit (DCU) can automatically decouple the electric motor on the car’s front axle to increase the range).

The electric motors generate a power output of 484 kW and torque of 950 Nm, resulting in a 0-62 mph acceleration time of 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 130 mph. The electric driving range is expected to be up to (WLTP) 372 miles, and the car can charge at up to 200 kW DC.

AIRMATIC air suspension with continuously adjustable damping is standard and the vehicle level can be raised by up to 35 millimeters to increase the ground clearance. Rear-axle steering with a steering angle of up to 4.5 degrees is also standard, alternatively, the rear wheels can be turned up to 10 degrees.

In addition to the DYNAMIC SELECT driving programs ECO, SPORT, OFFROAD, and INDIVIDUAL, the Mercedes-Maybach EQS SUV has the special MAYBACH drive program as the standard setting, replacing COMFORT.
