You may not have heard of the name BYD... yet. But make no mistake this Chinese EV brand is going to be making waves in the UK in 2023.

The first model to reach these shores will be the Atto 3 SUV, which is already proving popular in other European countries. In Belgium, the BYD Atto 3 drove away with the prestigious Electric Family Car of the Year 2023 award, beating the likes of Renault, Nissan, Cupra and MG to the prize. Awarded by the Flemish Automobile club.

Safety assured

Another accolade earned by the pure electric model is a five-star safety award from Euro NCAP. In the tests conducted in 2022, the Atto 3 scored 91% for adult occupant safety, 89% for child occupant safety and 74% for safety assistance technology.

BYD Atto 3

The fact that professional car journalists awarded BYD Atto 3 the ‘’VAB Electric Car of the Year 2023” accolade is simply fantastic. We are even more pleased that so many families also acted as critical judges during this contest and voted the BYD Atto 3 as their number one vehicle in the electric segment.

Innovative battery technology

BYD isn't just a produced of EVs the company is heavily invested in other parts of the mobility sustainability sector, with the Atto 3 benefiting from the use of BYD Blade Battery technology. These cobalt-free battery packs use Lithium Iron-Phosphate (LFP) and are said to be more durable than conventional lithium-ion batteries.

In the Atto 3 there's a 60kWh battery pack which will mean a real-world range of over 200 miles on a full charge.

Also confirmed across the whole Atto 3 range is V2L capability, which means that external devices can use the power contained in the EV's battery.
