Cookie Policy
Most websites use cookies and similar technologies. We do too and we want you to understand how and why we use them on our website.
Legislation
You’ll understand that as a responsible business, we’ll always abide by legislation and of course this includes cookies and data privacy. If you want to check this, take a look at the Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations 2003, the Data Protection Act 2018 and the EU Regulation 2016/679 General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What are Cookies?
We know that not everyone is ‘tech savvy’ so we’ll try and explain what cookies are in language which isn’t techy. Firstly, we’ll use the word cookie to cover cookies and similar technologies which operate in a similar way and we’ll use the word device to include ways that you access our site, such as your phone, tablet and computer. So, a cookie is a small file which is placed on your device by a website that you visit and it’s stored on your hard drive. Cookies are the things that help you to move around a website and to give you a better experience. When you revisit the website your browser sends the cookie back to the website’s server allowing the site to recognise you and remember your preferences.
Why do we use Cookies?
We want you to have the best experience around our site and cookies help us to build a picture about our visitors by giving us information such as when you visit, how you use the site including moving around and pages visited, what device you’re using to access it and things like that. They also help us to personalise content . We use marketing and social media agencies so we do share information about usage from these cookies with them.
Your acceptance of Cookies
You need to let us know that it’s okay for us to use cookies which is why when you visit our site for the first time, you’ll see a pop up asking if you want to allow or deny cookies. If you accept, you’ll get the best from our site and in some instances when you come back the cookie will let us know ‘Hey it’s you! We’ve remembered what you like and where you go’.
We use different cookies which we’ll explain later and you can choose which cookies to accept or to deny, but please bear in mind that if you block them, you might get less than an amazing experience as our site may not work properly!
After you’ve accepted the use of cookies, if you change your mind, you can disable, block or remove them. You’ll need to check out the instructions usually found under ‘Help’ in your browser settings menu. If you delete cookies remember that you may lose information that helps you to access our website more quickly and efficiently including, but not limited to, login and personalisation settings which you’ll need when using our Customer Portal.
If you want more information about cookies, there’s a useful website- www.aboutcookies.org.uk.
