As the BEV market continues to mature we're finding the variety of choice across all car segments is growing - and at the larger end of the market we're seeing some genuine choice for people who need the flexibility of a seven seat vehicle.
So news of the Peugeot e-5008 adding to this choice is welcome news.
Part of Stellantis, Peugeot has taken advantage of the manufacturer group's new STLA Medium platform to build from - and it highlights the flexibility of not only the platform but also how an EV can be configured to best suit the occupants. With a total length of 4.79 metres and a wheelbase of 2.9 metres, it means the engineers have been able to maximise interior space without needing to push the length of the vehicle out towards 5 metres or more. So externally its big without being too big, yet there's excellent levels space even for third row occupants.
Power is provided by a large 98kWh Lithium-ion battery pack and coupled with the decent aerodynamics (SCx of 0.77) it means real world range will be north of 300 miles, with Peugeot aiming for a WLTP range of approx 400 miles.
All versions of the electric car come with a 11kW AC onboard charger with the option to upgrade to a 22kW AC on if you're able to take advantage of three-phase charging - rare in UK domestic settings.
While rapid DC charging, the Peugeot E-5008 can take up to 160kW of power in favourable conditions - so about 60 miles of range added in around 10 minutes, or 20% to 80% in around half an hour.
