Kia EV5 trim levels & battery options

All UK models of the EV5 come with an 81.4 kWh battery pack paired with a single front-wheel-drive motor producing 214 bhp. This means every version benefits from the same strong performance and generous electric range, keeping the choice simple.

There are three trims available, each designed to suit different tastes and budgets:

Kia EV5 Air

The entry-level EV5, offering an excellent standard specification at a competitive price point. Highlights include 18-inch alloy wheels, a high-quality cloth interior, and essential safety and driver assistance features.

Kia EV5 GT Line

Adding a sportier edge, the GT-Line includes larger 19-inch alloys, distinctive styling touches, heated rear seats, wireless phone charging and useful Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality that allows you to power appliances directly from the car.

Kia EV5 GT-Line S

The range-topping trim introduces a more premium experience with a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats, Harman Kardon audio, a head-up display and even fingerprint recognition start technology for extra convenience.

Kia EV5 range & performance

On paper, the Kia EV5 delivers up to 329 miles of range on the WLTP cycle. This makes it more than capable of handling long-distance motorway journeys, while remaining efficient and practical for everyday driving. In real-world conditions, drivers can expect between 250 and 300 miles on a full charge depending on weather, speed, and driving style. This range positions the EV5 alongside rivals such as the Tesla Model Y and Hyundai Ioniq 5, while offering the familiar Kia blend of reliability and comfort.

Charging the Kia EV5

The EV5 makes recharging simple and stress-free. At home, using a standard 11 kW AC wallbox, a full charge takes just over seven hours – perfect for overnight charging. When out and about, the EV5 supports 150 kW rapid charging, allowing the battery to be boosted from 10–80% in around half an hour.

The model also supports Plug & Charge technology, which simplifies the public charging process by removing the need for cards or apps, while Kia’s CarPay system enables drivers to manage parking and other payments directly from the car’s infotainment screen. For those who enjoy road trips or outdoor adventures, the V2L function available on GT-Line trims and above turns the car into a portable power source, letting you run appliances such as a laptop, coffee machine or even camping equipment straight from the vehicle.

Kia EV5 interior & technology

Step inside the Kia EV5 and you’re greeted by a modern, tech-focused cabin with clean lines and clever use of space. The centrepiece is a dual-screen setup combining a 12.3-inch driver display and 12.3-inch infotainment screen, joined by a dedicated 5-inch climate control panel. The result is a streamlined interface that’s easy to use on the move.

Higher trims introduce premium extras such as the Harman Kardon audio system and panoramic glass roof, but every version of the EV5 feels airy, practical and built with families in mind. With folding rear seats and a generous boot, the EV5 is just as capable of carrying bikes and luggage as it is passengers. Drivers familiar with the Kia Sportage will recognise the balance of comfort and versatility here, but with the added benefits of an all-electric powertrain.

Like all new Kia models, the EV5 is covered by Kia’s industry-leading 7-year / 100,000-mile warranty, which also applies to the battery. This gives you peace of mind throughout your lease and ensures the car is protected for the duration of your agreement.

Yes, DriveElectric offers lease packages that include maintenance plans, covering servicing, MOTs, and tyre replacement. This helps you spread the cost of motoring into one predictable monthly payment.

Leasing often requires a smaller upfront cost compared to purchasing outright, and monthly payments are typically lower than a car finance agreement. With a lease, you also don’t need to worry about depreciation or resale value — you simply hand the car back at the end of the contract.
