BMW continues roll out of National Park charging points
The summer holidays are in full swing and thousands of people everyday are heading to the 15 UK National Parks to enjoy the spectacular scenery they offer - and plenty will be using EVs to get there.
So it is great news that German car brand BMW is helping electric car drivers make use of these locations by partnering with the UK National Park authority to continue to install charging units.
BMW has committed to funding a total of 135 EV charge points across the 15 National Parks, with a total of 78 units already operational.
According to Zapmap, there are now over 64,000 public connectors in 33,000 locations.
Graham Biggs, Corporate Communications Director at BMW UK, said: “While the ever-growing number of EV charge points in the UK is encouraging, it’s vital that the momentum is accelerated and that rural areas are not left behind in the EV transition. A spread of chargers across the UK and into the countryside ensures that people can visit natural beauty spots this summer in the quietest cars and without tailpipe emissions – helping protect these precious places from noise and pollution.
We believe that nature should be protected and accessible for everyone and that’s why we’re so proud of the work we are doing with UK National Parks through The Recharge in Nature partnership.”
