Hello Twingo: Renault’s new electric city car arrives in the UK

From 7–15 February, visitors will be able to see the only UK example of the new Twingo ahead of order books opening later this year, offering an early glimpse of what Renault hopes will be a genuinely accessible, city-focused electric car.

A city car, right where it belongs

There’s something fitting about launching a compact electric city car in the heart of London. Renault’s rnlt London Battersea space sits on Electric Boulevard at Battersea Power Station and is designed to showcase the brand’s growing all-electric line-up in a more relaxed, immersive retail environment.

For drivers, it’s a chance to get up close with the new Twingo E-Tech electric before it arrives on UK roads, and to see how it fits alongside the already well-received Renault 5 E-Tech electric and Renault 4 E-Tech electric.

Renault UK’s Marketing Director, David Isherwood, summed it up neatly:

“Twingo E-Tech electric is built for the city, so there’s no better place for its UK debut than rnlt London Battersea. From its playful design to the smart technology that makes everyday electric driving even easier, this new generation is set to follow in the cult footsteps of the original Twingo.”

Why the new Twingo matters

Small electric cars are having a moment, and for good reason. As cities push for cleaner air and drivers look to reduce running costs, compact EVs offer a practical, affordable way to make the switch.

Renault is positioning the Twingo E-Tech electric as a true A-segment EV, targeting a starting price below £20,000. That’s a significant statement in a market where affordability remains one of the biggest barriers to electric adoption.

Despite its compact footprint, the Twingo E-Tech electric doesn’t skimp on modern EV features. Highlights include:

  • Up to 163 miles WLTP range from an LFP battery
  • A 60kW electric motor designed for lively urban driving
  • One Pedal driving, making stop-start traffic easier and more efficient
  • OpenR Link with Google built-in, bringing familiar apps and navigation into the cabin

In short, it’s designed to make everyday electric driving simpler, not more complicated.

Getting ahead of the queue

With interest already building, Renault is offering early adopters the chance to secure priority access through the Renault Twingo R Pass.

Priced at £100, the pass gives customers early ordering access when order books open later this year, along with a few extras, including a miniature Twingo, a unique green Renault key cover and access to a dedicated concierge service. Pass holders will also receive exclusive updates as the launch approaches. Jazzy, and why not? A new set of wheels is exciting!

A sign of where the EV market is heading

The arrival of the Twingo E-Tech electric adds further momentum to Renault’s expanding EV range and reflects a wider shift in the market: electric cars are no longer just about premium models or large SUVs.

For drivers, and fleets, looking ahead, cars like the Twingo signal a future where electric mobility is more affordable, more practical and better suited to everyday life, especially in urban environments.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on how the Twingo E-Tech electric develops as UK ordering opens later this year.
