Smart #5 shown in China for first time
The reimagination of the Smart brand continues apace with the reveal of the Concept #5 EV in China.
Long gone are the days of the super-small Smart cars - today the brand is on a new track. All electric cars, built for the modern driver, stuffed with all the latest kit and tech, built over in China.
The smart Concept #5 is the latest vehicle revealed and it's been given its world debut at the Beijing International Automotive Exhibition on 25th April 2024.
A distinctly mid-sized SUV, the smart #5 is the most spacious and versatile seen from the brand.
Built on 800-volt technology, the smart #5 has a 100+ kWh battery unit, and promises to take advantage of ultra-rapid charging to hit 10-80% recharge times of just 15 mins. Overall range in the real world is set to be around the 300 mile mark.
The smart Concept #5 is the most unexpected and versatile car that our brand has ever created. With this vehicle, we leave all boundaries behind and open up a new segment for customers in Europe and worldwide
Positioned for the luxury market, the cabin oozes class and some of the latest in-car tech, including OLED screens, a portable speaker integrated into the central console and an in-car AI assistant ready to take verbal commands.
While this is the concept version we're seeing today, Smart plans to reveal the production version of the #5 model later in 2024.
