Motoring costs plummet thanks to DriveElectric’s EV lease, electricity tariff and charger package, saving £700 in first year
- DriveElectric offers an electric car lease and EDF GoElectric electricity tariff, the UK’s lowest fixed EV rate, with option for a Pod Point home charger
- Save even more with smart charging, and drive 5,000 miles for free
- EV ownership now even cheaper for some EVs that are eligible for the new Electric Car Grant
Motorists looking for an electric car can now lease their dream EV and include the UK’s lowest cost EV electricity tariff – as well as drive 5,000 miles for free [1]. Drivers can also opt to include a home charger when leasing an eligible vehicle.
DriveElectric, one of the UK’s top-rated EV leasing providers, can now add a Pod Point Solo 3S charger into its EV lease deals, and customers can also benefit from EDF’s GoElectric tariff – the UK’s lowest fixed rate electricity prices for EV drivers, offering savings of £316 per year [2] compared to EDF’s standard variable tariff. You can also bolt-on smart charging to enjoy off-peak, cheaper rates for EV charging, saving up to an additional £251 per year [3], resulting in a total potential annual saving of £567. All of EDF’s EV tariffs are backed by 100% zero-carbon electricity generated by EDF.
In addition, customers can drive 5,000 miles for free, thanks to a £130 account credit. In total, all of these cost savings potentially amount to almost £700 in the first year.
Car buyers can also now benefit from lower prices for some electric cars due to the government’s new Electric Car Grant, which offers £1,500, or potentially £3,750, off new electric cars priced under £37,000 subject to certain environment criteria being met. All this means that there’s never been a better time to save money by making the move to an electric car.
DriveElectric has over 15 years of EV expertise and offers one of the widest selections of EV leasing deals, with something for everyone, from compact city cars to large SUVs.
Adam Kemp, Director of Partnerships at DriveElectric, says: “Switching to an electric car is already a smart choice with lower running costs than petrol or diesel. Our new package makes it even easier, with 5,000 miles of free energy and a low cost and zero carbon4 electricity tariff, plus the option of having a charger installed, so drivers can enjoy the benefits from day one.”
DriveElectric is an electric vehicle leasing company that has been helping organisations and individuals to adopt EVs to save money, lower emissions and transition to low carbon energy since 2008. DriveElectric aims to make the switch to electric cars and vans simple for individuals and business fleets.

The GoElectric tariff
GoElectric, a home energy tariff from EDF designed for EV drivers, is Britain's lowest fixed EV tariff, allowing drivers to charge their EV overnight for less than £10 and power their home with off-peak electricity at just 9p/kWh for five off-peak hours from midnight to 5am. GoElectric is compatible with any EV or charger; it requires a smart meter. The tariff is backed with zero carbon renewable electricity. Electricity comes from renewable sources such as wind, solar, biomass, tidal and hydroelectric.

Smart charging
Smart charging automatically schedules EV charging for off-peak hours, saving money and reducing demand on the grid. Smart charging isn't yet available for all EV makes and models.

Home charger
A Pod Point Solo 3S home charger can be included in an EV lease from just £19.95 per month. The Solo 3S offers EV drivers the ability to charge their vehicles up to three times faster than a standard 3-pin plug while benefitting from the charger’s in-built safety features. A Pod Point charger is not required to be eligible for the EDF £130 account credit offer.

About EDF
EDF is helping Britain achieve Net Zero by leading the transition to a cleaner, low emission, electric future and tackling climate change. It is the UK’s largest producer of low-carbon electricity and supplies millions of customers with electricity and gas.
It generates low carbon electricity from five nuclear power stations and more than thirty onshore wind farms and two offshore wind farms.
EDF is leading the UK's nuclear renaissance with the construction of a new nuclear power station at Hinkley Point C, and there are advanced plans for a replica at Sizewell C in Suffolk. Hinkley Point C and Sizewell C will provide low carbon electricity to meet 14% of UK demand and power around 12 million homes.
EDF is one of the UK’s largest investors in renewables, with more than 1GW of renewable generation in operation and over 5GW in construction, planning and development across a range of technologies including onshore and offshore wind, solar and battery storage. We are constructing our largest offshore wind farm in Britain – the 450 MW Neart na Gaoithe project in Scotland.
EDF is helping its customers, both in business and at home, take their first steps to sustainably powering their lives. Whether it is buying an electric car, generating and storing electricity, selling energy back to the grid or installing a heat pump. EDF is one of the largest suppliers to British business and a leading supplier of innovative energy solutions that are helping businesses become more energy independent. In addition, the company’s energy services business, Dalkia, is one of the largest technical service providers in the UK and Ireland.
EDF is part of EDF Group, the world’s biggest electricity generator. In the UK, the company employs around 14,000 people at locations across England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland.
1. £130 account credit is equivalent to 5,056 free home charging miles based on an EV achieving 3.5 miles per kWh and charging the EV battery during the 9p/kWh off-peak rate (midnight to 5am) on the EDF GoElectric tariff (price correct as of 12 August 2025). Miles per kWh achieved depends on several factors, including battery size, vehicle size, battery efficiency and outside temperature.
- £316 saving compares EDF’s GoElectric Sep26 tariff cost at £1,905 a year based on a dual fuel customer using total electricity consumption of 4,650 kWh (2,700kWh peak rates and 1,950 kWh off-peak rates) and Ofgem typical gas consumption of 11,500 kWh. This is compared to a dual fuel Standard Variable customer (Electricity Standard meter adjusted for equivalent electricity use) which will cost £2,221 a year based on July 2025 energy price cap rates (savings subject to change for future price cap updates).
- To get up to the £251 Smart Charging bolt-on saving, annual savings assume 3,150kWh charging off-peak and a £5/month credit. Smart Charging offers an extra 1,200 kWh of off-peak charging. The total off-peak charging is 3,150 kWh with EDF's GoElectric tariff with Smart Charging (GoElectric's off-peak rates at 1,950 kWh). Prices correct as of 12 August 2025.
