DriveElectric and Lloyds host Driving Healthcare Forward EV event

Held at the beautiful Harleyford Marina in Marlow on 22 April, the event coincided with Earth Day 2026, a fitting backdrop for an evening dedicated to helping more people make the switch to cleaner, greener transport.

Attendees had the chance to experience electric driving first-hand, with a varied selection of vehicles available for test drives, including cars form Kia, BMW, the Jaecoo 5, Volvo EX30, ES90 and EX90, plus the Porsche Taycan. For some guests, it was their first time driving an electric car, and the reaction spoke for itself.

Alongside the test drives, presentations covered the finance options available to healthcare workers looking to make the switch to electric, including Salary Sacrifice, Business Contract Hire and Personal Contract Hire. Salary sacrifice in particular represents a genuinely compelling option for NHS and healthcare employees, allowing drivers to lease an electric car through their employer from gross salary, reducing the amount of income tax and National Insurance paid.

The evening also provided an opportunity for healthcare professionals to network and share experiences; from those already driving electric to those weighing up their options for the first time.

It was a brilliant evening and a reminder of why events like this matter. Getting people into the driver's seat is still the single most effective way to overcome hesitation about electric vehicles. Once you've driven one, the conversation changes.
