Nissan MICRA goes electric
Nissan has unveiled the all-new, sixth-generation MICRA, and this time it’s fully electric. Arriving in late 2025, the MICRA EV stays true to the qualities that made it a household name for over 40 years, offering a fresh take on the compact car: practical, stylish, and accessible.

Electric evolution of an icon
Over 40 years and five generations, the MICRA has earned its reputation as a go-to compact city car. With the 2025 model, Nissan reimagines this classic for a new era, offering two battery options (40kWh and 52kWh) with real-world ranges of up to 253 miles. Quick charging from 15% to 80% takes just 30 minutes at a fast charging station, making it easy to get back on the road with minimal downtime.
This is the first of four new fully electric models Nissan plans to launch in Europe by 2027, marking a bold step in the company’s electrification strategy.
Designed at Nissan’s European design studio in London, the new MICRA exudes confidence. SUV-inspired lines, sharp details, and 18-inch wheels give it a powerful presence for a compact car. Unique touches like animated “welcome wink” headlights and the whimsical “ice cream scoop” side profile indentation hint at a playful, characterful design philosophy.
Buyers will be spoilt for choice with 14 exterior colour combinations, including two-tone options that blend bold body colours with black or grey roofs, ideal for those who like to turn heads.
Step inside and the MICRA feels clean and considered. A minimalist dash is centred around twin 10.1” screens, one for the driver display and another for infotainment, slightly angled towards the driver for ease of use. Subtle design touches, like a Mount Fuji outline in the centre console, nod to Nissan’s Japanese heritage.
Interior trims come in three styles Modern, Audacious, and Chill, matched with ambient lighting in 48 selectable colours. With five doors, a roomy feel, and up to 1,106 litres of boot space with the seats folded down, it’s every bit as practical as it is premium.
Performance that punches above its weight
Built on the AmpR EV platform, the MICRA delivers lively handling and smooth electric acceleration. At just 1400kg (or 1524kg for the larger battery version), it’s lighter than many rivals, helping it feel nimble in traffic while still offering a planted, stable drive thanks to its low centre of gravity and independent suspension setup.
Drive modes Comfort, Sport, Eco, and a customisable Perso mode let drivers tailor their experience, while e-Pedal technology enables one-pedal driving for effortless city commutes.
Smarter driving with google built-in
The MICRA Electric is Nissan’s second vehicle in Europe to feature Google built-in. Drivers can access Google Maps, Google Assistant, and Google Play directly from the car’s infotainment system—no smartphone needed. Voice commands like “Hey Google” can control navigation, temperature, media, or even smart home devices.
Route planning is smarter too, with built-in EV route mapping that recommends charge stops based on range, driving style, and temperature. The NissanConnect app rounds out the tech experience, allowing users to precondition the cabin, schedule charging, check range and more from their smartphone.
Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are also standard, ensuring every driver can stay connected their way.
Driver safety you can count on
Despite its compact footprint, the MICRA EV doesn’t skimp on safety. Nissan’s ProPILOT Assist provides adaptive cruise control, lane centring, and emergency braking. Additional features include Blind Spot Intervention, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Driver Monitoring, and more—helping keep you and your passengers safe in busy urban environments.
