Volkswagen boosts range and power on the ID. Buzz Cargo with new 58kWh battery
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles has given the all-electric ID. Buzz Cargo a meaningful upgrade, replacing the outgoing 59kWh battery with a new, more efficient 58kWh unit that delivers more range and more power, despite the smaller capacity.
Thanks to improvements in the battery cells, the new version extends the all-electric range by 17 miles to 218 miles on a single charge, while power climbs from 170PS to 190PS. For fleets and drivers who rely on the Buzz Cargo day to day, that's a useful step up in both flexibility and performance.
Pricing improvements also visible
There's good news on price too. The new 58kWh model starts from £29,995 (excluding VAT), a saving of £5,655 compared with the outgoing 59kWh variant. All versions also qualify for the Plug-in Van Grant, worth a further £5,000 off. On Contract Hire, packages start from £239 per month.
New V2L capability and tech enhancements
The whole ID. Buzz Cargo range is also gaining vehicle-to-load (V2L) technology, so drivers can use the van itself as a power source. It delivers a continuous 2.0kW supply (peak 3.6kW at 16A/240V) through a three-point pin plug in the rear loadspace, handy for running power tools, charging a laptop or even boiling a kettle on site.
Inside, the updated ID 6.0 Software brings an integrated app store, letting users download and activate features like streaming, parking and charging services from within the vehicle. It also introduces Connected Travel Assist, which uses expanded online data to support driving, including detecting traffic lights and bringing the vehicle to a stop automatically when it spots a red signal.
