World premiere of Smart #5 to take place in Australia
The latest all electric model from Smart is set for a global unveiling in Brisbane on August 28th 2024.
Smart, once known for its super-compact two seat cars, has transformed over the past 2 years into a carmaker focusing exclusively on zero tailpipe emissions electric cars.
We've already seen both the #1 and #3 models but now is the turn of the latest odd numbered model to make an appearance.
The Smart #5 is a mid-sized SUV and the most spacious Smart car so far. Aimed at customers with sporty lifestyles, the #5 has been designed by the team at Mercedes-Benz Design.
Having completed offroad and winter testing the #5 has been put through its paces. Great care has been taken to offer an EV that can thrive on the road but also off the beaten track, even the powertrain has been put through its paces with testing of charging in the extreme cold all part of the programme to ensure the Smart #5 can deal with the environment.
With the smart #5, we have created our most spacious and versatile vehicle to date. The #5 is a great expansion of our existing portfolio and will make the smart brand an attractive choice for more and more customers in Europe.
Another round of testing is expected to take place, specifically to tweak the vehicle for the European market ahead of a Euro launch in 2025.
