I love my new eup. I thought I hated automatic cars but she is a dream to drive. When is the nonsense about different companies owning different chargers and charging different ‘monthly membership’ going to stop? I think this is the biggest handicap for potential owners, once they realise this stupid system exists. I don’t mind paying for my electricity, but why should I pay for several different ‘monthly charges’ if I want full access to all chargers?
We’re glad you’re enjoying your e-Up, and yes the public charging scenario can be frustrating, but there was some good news for EV drivers in the Queen’s speech yesterday:
“As things stand, those wanting to use publicly-accessible charging points may need to register with several different companies that run them,” the Department for Transport added. “The planned legislation will include measures to ensure drivers need register only once to make full use of the existing infrastructure.”
