Ford invests $500 million in electric pickup startup Rivian

Ford recently announced that it would be investing $500 million in the new electric vehicle start up company Rivian. Automaker Ford plans to use the start-up’s platform to make an all-electric vehicle. There is no confimation of the type of vehicle, but it will be produced by Ford. Rivian have not started production for the future high-end, all electric pick-up truck, but it is said to have a planned range of around 400 miles.
London’s Ultra Low Emission Zone comes into action

In replacement of London’s T-Charge, London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) went live on 8th April 2019. The aim is to improve London’s air quality and reduce the emissions from polluting vehicles. Any vehicles which do not meet the new requirements will be liable for a daily charge to drive within the ULEZ area.
Ford plan to introduce the new all-electric Transit van in 2021

A new electric van is heading for production. Automaker Ford plans to bring an all electric Transit van to the european market by 2021. Ford also announced their plans to introduce numerous other commercial electric vehicles to be part of the european portfolio.
Google maps gets an EV update

Google Maps recently installed an update which now allows you to see real-time availability of electric vehicle charge points. At the moment this feature is only available in the UK and USA.

The RAC recently introduced a new service for electric vehicles. Now, if you are stranded with a flat battery in your electric car, the RAC has an EV recovery device installed in some of their breakdown vans, it’s called ‘EV BOOST’. This new service can top your electric car up with charge at the side of the road. Initially this EV service has only been installed in six of the breakdown service’s patrol vans, however, there are plans to roll out to a larger scale in the future.
