Government announce cuts to plug-in car grant

The good news is, plug-in car grant will still be available to some. Earlier this month the government introduced changes to the Plug-in car grant. Reductions have been made to the grant for category one vehicles and PHEV vehicles will no longer receive the grant.
Budget 2018, No changes announced for electric vehicle drivers

The Budget 2018 has been announced and we can’t see any sign of electric cars being mentioned, which came as a disappointment to many.
There was no mention of better direct or tax incentives for the transition to get more electric vehicles on to the road. Company car tax for zero-emission vehicles will still increase as planned, before dropping in 2020. Creating less appeal to get more EV’s on the road with no incentive does not go in hand with recent government announcements on the “road to zero” strategy by 2040. Now we wait for an announcement in spring 2019.

Diesel and petrol ban should come much faster, say MPs

A ban on sales of new petrol and diesel cars should be brought forward by eight years to 2032, MPs have said. The government’s current plans to ensure all new cars are “effectively zero emission” by 2040 were “vague and unambitious”, a report by Parliament’s business select committee said.
