A practical, value for money electric city car from ŠKODA
The CITIGOe iV is ŠKODA’s first electric car and has been designed as an affordable city car. This car is an ideal choice for a first electric car due to it’s generous sized battery, providing enough range to get you around town on only a charge or two a week. And you’ll fit into those tight parking spaces with ease! The CITIGOe also offers the flexibility to go on longer journeys when needed as we estimate the CITIGOe has a “real-world” driving range of around 125 miles.
There is also the option to add rapid charging capability to your CITIGOe spec if you will need to top up on the go.
Vehicle features & technology
This EV is available to lease in two trim levels:
CITIGOe iV SE – This is the standard model which does not include rapid charging cababilities (available to add with an additional cost)
CITIGOe iV SE L – The more premium SE model which includes extra features such as rapid charging, heated seats, upgraded interior and alloy wheels. (24/02/20 update – the ‘L’ model is currently not available)
The CITIGOe iV’s 37kWh battery provides this city car with a official WLTP rating of 162 miles range. We haven’t test driven this EV just yet because it’s so new but we anticipate it will achieve a “real-world” driving range of around 130 miles per charge. If you’re curious about EV range take a look at our helpful guide: “Electric vehicle range: everything you need to know”
A generous 37kWh. Only slightly smaller than a Nissan LEAF’s 40kWh battery. We’ve put together a battery size comparison with some other popular models below:
When charging this electric vehicle, you access the right side rear charging port and plug in via a Type 2 (generally for home charging) or CCS (rapid charging) connection.
As we mentioned earlier, rapid charging is not standard on all CITIGOe models, though you can choose to add it if you think you’ll need it (though the majority of charging takes place at home overnight, so rapid charging isn’t as essential as you might believe!) If you do opt for rapid charging capability and you’re topping up using a 50kWh rapid charger your car’s battery can be filled to from 10% to 80% capacity in approximately 48 minutes.
On a typical home charger (charging speed = 7kW) the CITIGOe will 100% battery charge in around 5 hours 30 mins. For more on charging read our handy guide: “How long does it take to charge an electric car?”
