Vicky Reed, Project Administrator at Fleetdrive, has been recognised for her achievement in supporting the UK’s electric vehicle revolution at the 2014 Energy Saving Trust ‘Fleet Hero Awards’.
Vicky Reed has made a massive contribution to the Nissan Leaf’s outstanding sales growth and success in the UK after becoming the first woman in the country to support the delivery of 200 of the pure electric vehicles through her excellent administration of the pioneering ‘My Electric Avenue’ project.
‘My Electric Avenue’ is an innovative project funded by Ofgem that aims to provide a solution to the potential impact that recharging electric vehicles may have on the local electricity network.
Participants in the project lease a Nissan LEAF at a subsidised rate for 18 months, trialling ‘Esprit’, a new technology developed by EA Technology to monitor and control the electricity used when the car is being charged. Data is collected on the mileage and time of journeys, digitally recorded through the vehicle’s Nissan Carwings program, and 4 online surveys are to be completed by each participant during the 18 month period, which Vicky will ensure are completed accurately and timely.
The successful communication around My Electric Avenue has resulted in a large number of applications to take part in this innovative, ground-breaking project. More than 2,500 people have already applied, and more than 100 have been successfully delivered and are up and running.
Key to this successful customer engagement has been the right mix of project partners and a fantastic ‘hook’ (the Nissan LEAF) for those taking part in the trials.
Built in Sunderland, the Nissan LEAF is the world’s bestselling all-electric car and costs just two pence per mile to run. But despite the vehicle’s obvious benefits and unique selling points, it’s 44 year-old Vicky’s sales approach and commitment to the project that’s finding favour with customers across the UK.
Her enthusiasm for the electric vehicle revolution is truly infectious and it’s her belief in the product and passion for it that has helped so many customers feel confident to make the switch to electric motoring.
Replacing 200 vehicles with electric vehicles will reduce carbon emissions by 26,620g/km p.a. (based on average car tailpipe emissions of 133.1g/km from 2012 data compiled by SMMT) and the crucial data being collected from the participants will help the UK’s power grid prepare for future demand of EV charging.
Vicky also co-ordinates our well-attended Tesla test-drive days where existing and potential clients are invited to view a presentation from the Tesla Europe team and learn about the advantages and financial benefits of sustainable vehicle leasing, before taking the opportunity to get behind the wheel of the Tesla Model S and test drive one of the most desirable electric cars on the market. As an EV driver herself, Vicky has first-hand knowledge and experience of EV driving and can pass this onto clients in an honest and genuine way.
Inspiring the next generation..! Vicky has 2 boys attending secondary school, and has initiated a school project to learn about electric vehicle battery technology and environmental issues, with a special visit from the Tesla Europe team. The children will have the opportunity to sit in the Tesla Model S and witness the silent motor.
Vicky was presented the Runner Up prize for the ‘Individual Achievement’ Award by Well-known TV personality and prominent campaigner for fuel-efficient travel Quentin Wilson at the EST Fleet Hero Awards on 27th November 2014 .
