Charging and range
The Hyundai Kona Electric comes available in 2 battery size options a smaller 39kWh and a larger 64kWh battery. This model is fitted with the 64kWh battery which allows the car to achieve an excellent official range of 301 miles WLTP. The actual range can depend on many factors, so at DriveElectric we recommend a real-world range of around 251 miles for this EV. This means this model of the Kona Electric is capable of achieving even longer journeys without the need to charge. However, when you do need to charge, it is easily done! When charging at home on a standard 7kWh wall box charger you can expect it to recharge from flat to full in around 10 hours, if you need to top your range up in a hurry the car can be topped up to 80% using a public rapid charger in less than 1 hour. Charging and range
The KONA’s advanced technology means it has an efficient and practical driving range, with a specially designed platform and electric powertrain engineered for seamless integration.
When you take out a Hyundai KONA Electric Premium lease on this model, you get a car with a 64kWh battery. This gives you a WLTP range of up to 300 miles, while our ‘real world’ range is around 245 miles. It takes just over nine hours to fully charge using a 7kW home charger. With an EV-specific tariff where electricity costs 5p per kW, this costs £3.20. That translates to a cost per mile of just 1.3p, which is exceptionally low.
For the average person, around 250 miles is more than enough range for each day. Indeed, it may even be enough for a whole week. Sometimes though, you may need to charge up on the road. When you do, you can replenish your battery from 10% to 80% in 45 minutes using a 100kW DC charger. If you’re connected to a 50kW charger, this will take around 1 hour.
The smart technology packed into the KONA may mean you rarely need to make a pit stop. Should you decide to lease a Hyundai KONA Electric in the UK, you’ll have a car with adjustable regenerative braking. You can set this to one of four levels, ranging from zero to heavy operation of this function. There’s also a 1-paddle mode and smart regenerative braking to eke out every last ounce of battery life, using things like onboard radar sensors and hill detection to control your braking.
The KONA is also equipped with leading safety and advanced driver assistance systems to keep you and your loved ones as safe as possible on the road. Hyundai SmartSense uses a series of sensors and automation to deliver welcome functions such as Blind Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist (LFA) and Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go.
It may look like a family SUV, but you can still enjoy an exciting ride through our Hyundai KONA Electric Premium lease offers. The KONA can take you from 0-62mph in 7.9 seconds, with a top speed of 104mph. There’s plenty of weight to the car, but the handling feels light and responsive. The one-gear nature of this EV means there’s always an instant response on the accelerator pedal.
Another perk when you take out a Hyundai KONA Electric lease in the UK is this car’s innovative engine sound system. EVs are almost silent when they run, which can be a danger to pedestrians crossing the road. To counter this, Hyundai has created a unique, melodic Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS). This helps pedestrians and other road users hear your car approaching, without causing loud and unpleasant noise pollution.
